Todmorden Beer Festival 2009 is the 10th Anniversary Festival, and will for the 10th time be held in the Pavilion Bar here at Todmorden Cricket Club.The organisers are trying to offer a little more than has been the norm with this year being a special one.
There will be 35 Cask conditioned ales and lagers from all over the UK, from Dorset to Orkney, and 5 genuine Farmhouse Ciders including an interesting Welsh variety. There has also been a concerted effort to include new beers from local breweries this year and 15 of the chosen nectars come from within a 30 mile radius, giving beer fans the opportunity to sample otherwise unavailable local brews.
The new innovation for this special year is a marquee at the front of the clubhouse, which will serve a draught Pilsner specially imported from the continent, along with various bottles of continental beers, lagers, and pilsners. Also this year in the marquee there will be available a choice of wines, so all you beer festers can bring your wives and girlfriends, and your young men who seem allergic to "proper ale" and they will not feel out of place and can enjoy themselves. You never know one or two may be converted "to't' reet stuff". Music will be played at every session and on Saturday night the local lads "The Travelling Windleberries" will perform live.
